HOT TOFFEE CIDER

Recipe from "101+ Recipes from The Herb Lady"

http://www.herbs2u.net

INGREDIENTS

Half gallon of apple cider (unsweetened) (Arizonans can enjoy Arizona produced cider - find it at your local farmers market)
2-3 sticks of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of whole clovers
2 tablespoons of dried orange peel or 1 small orange sliced
2 tablespoons of toffee pieces

 DIRECTIONS

Another variation of hot mulled ("spiced") cider, this is a nice warming drink after an afternoon of working in the cool December garden.

Bring all to a simmer, covered for at least 20 minutes.  If storing for use later, strain as the spices kept in the cider can turn bitter.
Optional: Add some brandy, port or red wine after simmering: Mulled wine can be simmered by simply replacing the apple cider with a nice red table wine.
Recycling with fragrance: Save the mulling spices and dry completely, add a few pieces to your log fire or chiminea.
