Dr. Mark Bierner from the Boyce Thompson Arboretum has a bargain for us. If you are looking for that last gasp summer getaway, why not the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. He lets us in on the secret that it may be one of the best, inexpensive one-day vacations you can find. Oh, and they have some spectacular butterflies to show and tell about, too.
I-17 is in for some major overhauls in the next few years. Doug Nintzel at ADOT has information about the meetings coming up that explain what is going on an it' also a forum to put in your two cents worth.
Old vs. New Media. Greg Patterson, The Espresso Pundit talks often about how the traditional newspapers are on the skids. He has an update this week and lets us know some other places to find out the latest, too.
Jody Owen from "The Space You're In"  is big on mentoring. This week she shares some of her thoughts on how we can become a valuable mentor to someone.
Some are hard to say, some are funny and some don't even make much sense. Spanish Pronunciations are perfect fodder for Marshall Trimble, Arizona's Official State Historian,to tell us this week's Trimble's Tale.
Fungus isn't exactly a dinner table topic, but that doesn't stop Dave Owens, the Garden Guy from telling us about it on the show. With all the moisture in the air, you may have fungus in your yard and not even know it. Dave to the rescue.
Jody Owen from "The Space You're In" is back to tell us about a very important seminar coming up in September. "Feeling Disorganized and Out of Balance?" is her topic and she says this will be a good time for you to meet her and get back on track.
Eclipses are one of the coolest things that Tony LaConte from Stargazing for Everyone lets us know about. There is a total lunar eclipse coming up soon and Tony is here to tell us all about it.
Catherine, "The Herb Lady's is cracking the whip again this week. It's time to start planting those cool weather veggies, now.....Yes in spite of the heat.
Arizona's Most Wanted this week has been on the lam for nearly 5 years. Glenn Robert PRemru is a martial arts expert and apparently a fraud expert as well. He bilked Arizonans out of ten million dollars then split when he was granted parole. He has been seen since then but was one step ahead of the law. .
This week's Arizona Almanac Greatest Recipe is from Catherine, the Herb Lady. It's an easy one called "Salsa with Soybeans in a Bread Bowl".

After the bridge collapse in Minneapolis, Governor Napolitano asked ADOT to inspect all of Arizona's state highway bridges. Doug Nintzel at ADOT is in the week to tell us what they have found so far.
Greg Patterson, The Espresso Pundit is back in the political saddle and he has a new page on our web site where you can hear his past over-caffeinated ruminations. That link is here. This week he talks to Ed about one of our newest congressmen. He calls it the "Mitchell Meltdown".
Charities are an important part of many of our lives and Jody Owen from "The Space You're In"  has some suggestions to make the most out of giving your time and money.
Would you believe Commodore Perry? Well, Marshall Trimble, Arizona's Official State Historian, has has his story with an Arizona twist.
Fertilizing can be one of the most important things you do for your garden. Dave Owens, the Garden Guy tells us what to do about it this time of year.
Dr. Mark Bierner says that there is an upcoming event you won't want to miss at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. It's called "Plants of the Bible" and you can hear some renowned experts tell you about biblical plants you can grow right here.
Tony LaConte from Stargazing for Everyone says that the Perseid meteor shower was a good one, but there is another shower coming that may be as good or even better.
Catherine, "The Herb Lady's welcomes us into here garden again this week and has more seeding suggestions for us.
Arizona's Most Wanted is not your normal ex con. She, yes she, is an attraction woman that has been on the lam now for over 3 years.

A new road project to tell you about from Doug Nintzel at ADOT. U.S. Route 60 between Apache Junction a Superior is in for a major overhaul. Doug has the work schedule and what we expect for our driving pleasure when the work is done.
The pencil cup. Jody Owen from "The Space You're In"  caught me with three on my desk but she says you can get by with NONE! Can you do it?
Jim Levy, Jewish Cowboy is Marshall Trimble, Arizona's Official State Historian, has this surprising story.
Rory Aikens, the public information officer from Arizona Game and Fish says you can really see the meteor showers from the mountains. Listen to his story this week.
Put the trimming tools down. Well at least wait until you have heard what Dave Owens, the Garden Guy has to say this week and listen to Catherine, the Herb Lady's take on it too.
Bird watching and the plants of the bible are what Dr. Mark Bierner is in to share with us this week. Naturally, you can see both at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
It's the granddaddy of the yearly meteor showers. Tony LaConte from Stargazing for Everyone says that the Perseid meteor shower may be especially good this year because of the new moon. Tony has the dates and times you'll want to see the show.
Continuing our trimming tips the week, Catherine, "The Herb Lady's says listen to her suggestions first before you start trimming the summer sun damage.

The Summer monsoon is in full swing and Doug Nintzel from ADOT is in to remind us that driving conditions can deteriorate very quickly. And he also reminds us about the "stupid motorist law". That law says you may have to pay for your own rescue if you ignore signs to not enter a flooded area.
There is a lot of talk about being "green". You know, environmentally conscious. Jody Owen from "The Space You're In"  has some practical everyday tips that can save energy and help you be green, too.
It was one of the shortest careers in major league baseball, but Flame Delhi was a true Arizonan. Listen to Marshall Trimble, AZ Official State Historian, and hear how this flame thrower ending making more money than Babe Ruth.
It's time to sign up for next spring's hunts in Arizona. Rory Aikens, the public information officer from Arizona Game and Fish tells us how to do it.
Dave Owens, the Garden Guy says don't be duped into paying big money for root feeding. It's the latest thing in landscaping but he says save your money and he tells us why.
Dr. Mark Bierner from the Boyce Thompson Arboretum says leapin' lizards! Not only did he see a Gila Monster in the wild recently, there are programs at BTA to help us learn about lizardly friends.
You have probably heard about the "Southern Cross". It is a constellation of stars in the shape of a cross only visible in the Southern hemisphere. Tony LaConte from Stargazing for Everyone says there is also a "Northern Cross" and naturally, he will tell us how to find it.
Sure it seems early, but it really is time to plant. Catherine, "The Herb Lady's has this week's things to be planting so we can get our second crop of the season.
Susan Bitter Smith returns to our show this week and has an important interview for us. State Representative Russell Pearce talks in detail about the Arizona immigration issue and what he and the State Legislature are doing about it.
Arizona's Most Wanted  this week is also one of the U.S. Marshal's 15 Most Wanted as well. His name is David Creamer and he is wanted for child pornography and multiple gun violations. He is a diabetic that requires full time medication to live, but ironically, has has vowed to not be taken alive. Listen to details by clicking the button to the right and get more details here.
